Because of the range of dimensions and configuration possible, these units furnish even heat distribution for use in hot plates, sealing equipment, hot stamping, dies and molds and hundreds of other surface heating applications.

 

Mica strip heaters are economical heat sources, suitable for providing heat to flat surfaces. The sheath temperature limitation is 900ºF. These heaters can be made to include pressure plates that improve uniformity and heat transfer. Mica strip heaters are available in many electrical termination styles, and can accommodate holes and cut-outs.

 

Mica strip heaters are constructed with the highest quality material available. A resistance element is wound around a sheet of mica, insulated on both sides with mica, and then a sheet of coated steel is folded around the composite layers of mica.

 

Strip heaters are used in a wide variety of industrial applications. The most frequent use is to heat metal parts (such as dies and platens) by clamping one of the flat surfaces on the metal part. They are sometimes used as heaters for hoppers and other containers to heat the liquid or solid containers.

 

Mineral Insulated Mica Strip Heaters

Mineral insulated mica strip heaters have the highest temperature rating in stainless steel construction and attain a temperature of 1400ºF. Mica Strip Heaters are made of zinc steel up to 900ºF and stainless steel up to 1200ºF. Mica Strip Heaters can be made with holes notches and cutouts.

 

The HD strip heaters, constructed with a coiled Nickel-Chrome, and then tightly compacting it with MGO gives us a solid rigid heater that is enclosed in aluminized steel for 1100ºF or stainless steel for 1200ºF surface temp.

Ceramic channel strip heaters have Nickel-Chrome wire supported on a ceramic core and then tightly compacted in a seamless stainless steel sheath.

 

Channel strip heaters are reliable flat heating cells, designed to provide efficient heat to flat surfaces and in space heating applications. The thick rectangular stainless steel housing of these heaters provides a rugged construction suitable for industrial applications.

 

The housing of a channel strip heater is 0.375” x 1.5” stainless steel rectangular tubing. Coiled Nickel-Chrome wire is placed inside special ceramic tiles. The terminals are secured with ceramic and mica insulators to the sheath. In order to improve their heat transferring capability and to make them vibration-resistant, channel strip heaters are filled with magnesium oxide powder that is compacted through vibration.

 

Channel strip heaters are made with or without slotted mounting tabs.

 

All mica strip heaters are available with various termination's to suit individual applications.
