Kolold SM Series Metal Flowmeter for Liquids and Gases

The SM series is a compact, very rugged flowmeter and switch. They operate on the well known variable area principle but without the use of an open conical measuring tube. Instead the instruments use a cylindrical control tube with a conical groove along its axis. This approach allows for higher rates of flow to be monitored in a compact meter. It also allows for greater control of turndown than with traditional conical tube variable area designs. The SM series is available as a flow switch, flowmeter or flowmeter and switch. The switches are externally mounted, adjustable reed contacts and are actuated by a magnet in the float. This same magnet can also be used to couple to an external flow indicator, allowing reading of flow rate without requiring visibility of the float. This allows the SM to benefit from all the advantages inherent in using an all metal construction (high pressure, shock resistance).

The SM series can be provided to mount in horizontal or vertical installations depending on model number. The instruments are designed to handle flow rates much larger than their stated maximum measuring range without damage. At excessive flow the device will, however, induce a larger pressure drop.
