Design
The Quadramatic is a compact and mechanically simple cyclic centrifuge designed for dependable performance during continuous operation.
The Quadramatic features a suspension system designed to significantly reduce vibration. Three unique "Cushion Ball Suspension" pedestal mounts support the centrifuge for smoother operation, and vibration-absorbing cushion pads are adjustable to suit individual requirements.
The machine is easily and quickly dismantled when maintenance is necessary, and no "special tools" are required. Bottom-driven design allows for fully opening top and simple filter media replacement. Standard design meets all current applicable safety and noise standards.
Operation 1. The centrifuge accelerates to a predetermined loading speed and the flow of feed is initiated.
2. As centrifugal force drives the mother liquor through the deposited cake, filter media and perforated basket wall, a cake builds up on the filter media.

3. The liquid effluent is discharged through a tangential outlet.
4. After the suspended solids have filled the basket to a preset volume or cake thickness, the cake detector provides the signal to shut off the feed.

5. The retained solids are purged of mother liquor, washed and accelerated to spin drying speed.
6. After spin drying, the centrifuge decelerates to discharge speed and the discharger removes the product from the basket. An alternative discharge method, not illustrated, allows top removal of product in a filter bag.

Basket Options
Quadramatic's basket design is one of the safest in the industry. The cast bottom is accurately machined with the remainder of the basket fabricated of heavy plate. Baskets are manufactured with extra-dimensional fidelity, and all rotating parts are dynamically balanced for optimum performance at 900 plus "G" force. Basket seam welds are carefully X-ray inspected and certified.
Perforated baskets utilize a wide range of filter media: woven wire mesh, drilled screens, laser generated screens, polypropylene woven fabric, Teflon fabric and other woven synthetic materials. Various backing layers, filter media and plough plates can be combined to create a special filter system for your product.
Clean In Place Option
The Quadramatic CIP option represents an important breakthrough for batch processing. Western States' Quadramatic was the first USDA-approved CIP unit. This exclusive feature reduces normal cleanup time from a matter of days to a matter of minutes for between-batch cleanup of a single product or for switching to different products.
Carefully placed CIP nozzles spray all surfaces with an even coverage. As the basket revolves nozzles saturate the upper surfaces and the lower section is thoroughly flooded, as required, for cleaning of every surface. The self-cleaning cycle can be programmed according to application requirements. For example, in the manufacture of a leading dairy product, the cleaning cycle consists of: (1) Warm water pre-rinse; (2) Hot aqueous alkaline wash; (3) Warm water rinse; (4) Hot aqueous acid wash; (5) Warm water final rinse and possibly a (6) Sanitizing rinse. For solvent-based operations the cleaning solutions can be solvents.
The information in this bulletin is general in nature and is not intended for specific construction, installation or application purposes. The descriptions, specifications and illustrations contained herein were correct at the time of printing. The machines built since then may differ slightly due to The Western States Machine Company policy of continuous product improvement. Materials
Construction material for each centrifuge is chosen to meet the customer's particular service requirements. Baskets and all other machine parts in contact with the product can be furnished in any workable, machinable metal including: plain (mild carbon) steel, the full range of stainless steels, Nickel, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, Titanium, Ferralium and Duplex Stainless. Solid stainless steel construction is standard. Also available are rubber and elastomer linings, plus all the latest plastic protective coatings. We offer polishes to 5 RMS, and all Western States welds meet or exceed applicable industry standards. Pending is ISO-9001 certified factory manufacturing procedure.
