Bredel APEX Hose Pumps

Bredel APEX Hose Pumps LogoThe unique direct-couple design of Bredel heavy duty hose pumps combines the small footprint of close-coupled puThe newly expanded range of APEX hose pumps is ideal for aggressive and abrasive applications up to 8bar. With their seal-less, valve-less design, APEX pumps are engineered for a more competitive price/performance ratio vs high pressure hose pumps. Designed to suit all dosing, metering and transfer applications with unmatched flow stability from 0.7-1,640 gal/hr (2.8-6,200 l/hr), the APEX 10, 15, 20. 28 and 35mm pumps offer users these important benefits:

Watson Marlow, APEX Hose Pumps, hose pump, APEX 10, APEX 15, APEX 20, APEX 28, APEX 35Seal-less, valve-less design

  • Affordable, accurate and reliable

  • Engineered for a more competitive price/performance

  • Reduced cost of ownership compared to other PD pumps

Increased process uptime

  • Precision machined hose elements for accurate, repeatable performance

  • Visual verification of correct hose loading

  • Optimized hose compression for unmatched flow stability

Long service intervals

  • The hose element is the only component to wear

  • Hose element can be replaced in-situ quickly and easily in minutes

Direct-coupled drive and maximum flexibility

  • No separate couplings to align or maintain

  • Ultra compact design with flexibility to mount standard gear motors

  • Rotor supported by own bearings to maximise gearbox life

Lower maintenance costs

  • More flow per revolution and long lasting hose elements

  • Single component change means fewer spare parts inventory

  • Shorter maintenance times compared to other pump types

The APEX pump range from Bredel has set the standard for lowering acquisition, operating and maintenance costs for low to medium pressure applications. Higher flows per revolution means APEX pumps can be run at lower speeds, increasing hose life and reducing wear. Compared with other pump types, APEX uptime periods are significantly longer.

APEX10, APEX15 and APEX20 pumps

  • One pump housing for easy conversion between three different size hose elements

  • Triple the flow without investing in a new pump

  • Achieve future-proofing for rising production volumes

APEX28 and APEX35 pumps

  • New connector design without hose clamps enables hose change in minutes

  • Now just 8 bolts to change a hose

Robust and compact

The APEX pump incorporates Bredel’s long proven direct-coupled technology, delivering the most reliable pump design in a compact footprint. While the APEX gearbox mounts directly to the pump housing, the APEX pump rotor is supported by its own sealed bearing hub, isolating and protecting the gearbox from integral forces.

Pigment dosing in paper production

  • PC pump abrasive wear caused drop in performance and colour variance.

  • APEX10 pumps stable flows and reduced maintenance decreased cost of ownership

At a BillerudKorsnäs paper plant, a progressive cavity (PC) pump has been replaced with an APEX10 hose pump for dosing abrasive pigment in kraft paper manufacture.

The move has solved the problem of stator and rotor wear on the PC pump that was leading to a drop in performance, downtime, and the need for regular maintenance.

High solids slurry transfer

  • High solids lead slurry transfer

  • Tough process conditions with flows up to 2500 litre/hour.

  • Hose replacement not expected before 14 months running is complete.

Extended uptime periods in this tough application is thanks largely to the APEX design, which is optimised for medium pressure applications, and as a consequence of long lasting hose elements

Abrasive brine causes PC pump problems

  • APEX reduce operator maintenence Progressive cavity pump stator or rotor replaced every month. APEX35 still running after 6 months

  • Minimum four hours pc pump repair time v 20 minutes APEX35 hose installation

A producer of energy from waste, has indicated significant potential savings in pump maintenance costs following their trial of an APEX35.

Not only is the APEX35 pump able to run without clogging, for a much longer period when pumping abrasive brine, but downtime and the cost of replacement parts is reduced greatly.

APEX in an industrial application

  • Lime slurry dosing

  • APEX35 pump provided consistent flows to eliminate pH control issues

  • Abrasive wear issues eliminated

The potable water plant of a major US water authority controlled pH by dosing lime slurry with a progressive cavity pump running for approximately 12-16 hours a day at a rate of 900 litre/hour. They could see the benefits of using an APEX hose pump for this same lime slurry dosing duty.

APEX slurry transfer application

  • Industrial slurry transfer

  • AOD pump needed two weekly maintenance v APEX35 ten weeks uptime

  • APEX35 maintenance less than 50% of the time to return AOD pump to operating condition

In addition to the significantly longer uptime periods in this rugged environment, when maintenance of the APEX pump is required, additional savings are apparent as it takes less than 50% of the time needed to reinstate the AOD pump to operating condition.
