Data Logging The Way You Want It

Digitrend 245A collects up to 500 analog input measurements, then conditions the signals in the mainframe. The results are displayed on a crisp, clear digital readout and expressed in engineering units such as temperature, pressure, flow, level and pH. Further, the system can monitor as many as 96 digital inputs, grouped to form BCD data or received individually from limit or valve-position switches for status or event sequence monitoring.

In addition to on-demand (manual) logging, the system can be set up to perform a number of simultaneous automatic features. These include up to 10 logs at independently specified time intervals on selected points or groups of points in the alarm (periodic logging), as well as continuous alarm monitoring and logging of selected points on alarm transition. The 245A can even be programmed ti skip points to enhance its scanning speed.

Designed For Easy, Accurate Operation

Even with all it can do, the 245A is extremely simple to use. The front panel keyboard-splash-resistant and electronically shielded for environment protection, has just 10 numeric and 18 function keys. Operators require minimal training and appreciate the way the 245A simplifies data logging in your busy work environment. And there's far less possibility of human errors.

Doric's Outstanding Family of FEMs

Doric's exclusive FEMs make the 245A a standout system by delivering significant performance benefits and the lowest possible total installed cost, particularly in hazardous environments.

Each FEM is a completely self-contained analog-to-digital subsystem that handles up to 20 analog inputs. You add FEMs (and 245S satellites) to your system as your needs grow, expanding monitoring to as many as 500 analog points.

The compact FEM can be plugged directly into the mainframe or satellite, placed a short distance away or located up to a mile from the mainframe. Once connections to the process are made, quick disconnect terminals assure easy swap-out of FEMs without undoing all your input connections.

Superior environmental specifications mean the FEM can be placed right where the measurement is, keeping the mainframe in a less harsh environment. Temperature from 0° to 70°C pose no problems. Expensive environmental protection is often unnecessary, thanks to the rugged cast aluminum construction of the FEM housing and protective coating of the circuit assemblies.

High Accuracy, Low Costs

The FEM transmits reliable digital pulse signals for long distances. And there is no degradation of the information being transmitted from common mode voltage pickup, distributed capacitance effects or spurious interference. Excellent noise rejection comes from dual-slope integration analog to digital conversion, combined with advanced filter design that provides 130 dB CMR for common mode voltages of up to 250V RMS, as well as superior RFI rejection. In addition, locating the FEM at the measurement source reduces the level of noise pickup that must be filtered in the first place. The full 16-bit (65,000 count) digital resolution of the analog output by the FEM permits determination of the temperatures to 0.1° and other measurements to 0.5 microV with accuracy's of 0.01% reading or better.

As always, precision has its price. But the Digitrend 245A, that price is remarkably low. First, the system is modular so you buy only the number of monitoring points you need. Even more important, however, is the way the FEM concept cuts installation costs to new lows.
