Magnetic Drive Pump Buyers Guide

Magnetic Drive Pumps, vary from the traditional pumping style, as the motor is coupled to the pump by magnetic means rather than by a direct mechanical shaft. The Magnetic Drive Pump works via a drive magnet, "driving" the pump rotor, which is magnetically coupled to the primary shaft driven by the motor. Magnetic Drive Pumps are often used where leakage of the fluid pumped poses a great risk (e.g., aggressive fluid in the chemical or nuclear industry, or electric shock - garden fountains). Magnetic Drive Pumps have no direct connection between the motor shaft and the impeller, so no gland is needed. There is no risk of leakage, unless the casing is broken. Since the pump shaft is not supported by bearings outside the pump's housing, support inside the pump is provided by bushings. The materials of construction of these bushings and the required clearances of the parts may restrict the kinds of fluids for which this kind of pump may be used.

Below you will find manufacturers representatives who handle a wide array of Magnetic Drive Pumps.

About Us

Our Publisher and Owner has been involved in the Canadian Process Control Market for over 35 years. As a former publisher and founder of one of our competitor's print publications in 1992 he left and began his own print magazine known as The Complete Process Products Book which evolved into Process Controls and Instrumentation News. In 1999 we created www.process-controls.com which contained an online Buyers Guide. We further evolved to the web site you see today and began to develop and maintain web sites for our clients. We introduced The Process News in February 2004 with a worldwide circulation of 43,000 readers providing up-to-date information on the latest products.
