Tong Grabs from Bushman Equipment

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentBushman Equipment designs and manufactures a complete line of lifting tongs. Each tong grab is designed to a particular size, shape and function.

The three basic tong configurations and application concepts are described below. All Bushman tong grabs are designed and manufactured in accordance with ASME B30.20. Each tong grab is equipped with our automatic latching device which provides safe and reliable operation of the clamping mechanism.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentSupporting Tong Grabs

For constant-sized objects with support clearance underneath, such as boxes, crates, bins and containers. The lifting feet of the tong grab support the load and maintain it on a horizontal lifting plane.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentGripping Tong Grabs

For materials such as coils, rolls, tubes and other round or cylindrical objects. This tong grab grips the material around the outside diameter with additional support provided by the tongs extending beyond and below the center of the load. The diameter range may vary by approximately 25%, while the variation in length is generally unlimited.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentPressure Tong Grabs

For gripping the vertical sides of bales, boxes, ingots and other flat or straight-sided objects. Pads on pressure tong grabs provide surface friction or penetration of the load to maintain a safe hold during handling. Pads are furnished with rubber, belting, pins, points and other materials, depending on the coefficient of friction required for the material being lifted.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentAutomatic Latching Device for Bushman Tong Grabs

Position tong grab over material or object to be picked up. Unit will be in open position.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentLower tong grab onto load. With grab resting on material, and hoist tension released, the latch automatically disengages from the locked open position.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,Equipment Raise hoist to allow the grab pads to close onto load. Then lift or transport to the desired location.

To release load, lower tong grab and place load on the ground to relieve tension. Latch will automatically lock grab in the open position. Hoist can then be raised to remove grab.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentModel 1503 Slab Tong Grabs

The model 1503 slab tong grab is a mill duty lifter that was designed to handle a wide range of widths. Various gripping pads, including steel points and serrated pads, are available. This tong grab uses a Bushman mechanical latch for easy engagement and disengagement of the load.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentModel 1529 Mill Roll Tong Grab
s

This mill roll tong grab is a mill duty lifter that was designed by Bushman Equipment to handle a range of roll diameters with one tong grab. It is fitted with the Bushman automatic latch for easy engagement and disengagement of rolls. Pads are available with a variety of liners to accommodate the specific application.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentModel M2055 Motorized Lay Down Ingot Tong Grabs

This special mill duty ingot tong grab (or ingot lifter) was designed to lift ingots from a vertical position and lay them down. The rotating pads on the ingot lifter legs were mounted on an inclined plane to increase gripping pressure. A cam is placed behind the pads to provide locking to protect the load.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentModel 6103 Pressure Tong Grabs

This Bushman Equipment pressure tong grab grips the vertical sides of bales, boxes, ingots and other flat or straight-sided objects. Pads provide surface friction or penetration of the load to maintain a safe hold during handling. The tong grab pads can be covered with rubber, belting, pins, points, etc., depending on the coefficient of friction required for the material being lifted.

Tong,Grabs,Bushman,EquipmentVertical Cylinder Grabs

In addition to the cylinder of bottled gas shown here, this pressure tong grab can be used to handle materials such as coils, rolls, tubes and other round or cylindrical objects. These tong grabs can handle loads of differing lengths.
