The Model 5630 is a complete Type S Thermocouple Standard for the range of 0°C to 1450°C. Several things separate a Hart Type S Thermocouple from others on the market. The premium-grade measuring junction is enclosed in a special ceramic sheath. The metal armor-insulated thermocouple leads terminate in a cold junction probe that fits Harts Model 9101 Ice Point Dry-Well or other ice baths. A flexible, insulated, 79-inch stranded-copper cable attaches to the users readout instrument. This combination cable ensures a complete assembly that meets the stringent calibration requirements necessary for high-temperature work. The special ceramic sheath isolates the precious metal thermocouple and protects the integrity of the probes calibration. The 17.5-inch-long probe fits most calibration furnaces and fixed-point cells. If you need a longer probe, we offer an identical unit 25.5 inches long for deep furnaces and other applications. The high-performance materials and construction of the 5630 typically yield accuracies of ±1°C or better. A fixed-point calibration at Hart (Model 1805) can yield accuracy to ±0.5°C. With calibration by us, by you or by NIST, this is a solid value in a high-quality probe. The 5630 handles well and feels impressive. The insulated cable is flexible, and the armored section is the most pliable and easy to work with that weve seen for this application. Why bother with thermocouple standards that offer you only an exposed thermocouple with flimsy wire construction for a cold junction? Calibration Information Each probe includes a comparison calibration of the specific thermocouple. The calibration is performed before putting the thermocouple into its sheath. The calibration is made against a NIST-traceable or NIST-certified thermocouple, with the measured-point data included with each instrument. A complete EMF vs. temperature table is also provided with a certificate of calibration. These thermocouple assemblies qualify for calibration by NIST if thats your preference. The probe must be carefully disassembled according to the instructions in its manual and the bare wire thermocouple portion shipped directly to NIST. You can choose a comparison calibration or a fixed-point calibration according to your needs. No Cold Junction Hart now has a new Type S Thermocouple without a cold junction for customers who want to provide their own cold junction or take advantage of electronic cold junction compensation. The Model 5638 is made with the same high-quality assembly as our 5630 and 5637 models. The armored cable provides protection to the thermocouple wires when working with high-temperature furnaces. Its accuracy, use and calibration options are the same as found on the Models 5630 and 5637 above. |
