Filtration in the Swiss food industry
Divida AG Egliswil, located in Switzerland, is a manufacturer of pre-cooked meals in plastic bags. These bags are dumped into four chilling tanks containing water at 1-3°C. Each tank contains 100 bags at a time and the problem that arises is that some of the bags burst during the chilling process, thus contaminating the process water with an eventual build-up of bacteria. Both carbon filters and UV disinfection were tested by Divida, with little success.
Amiad installed a filtration system located in the basement, one storey below the chilling tanks and production line. Two Amiad "SAF" automatic self-cleaning filters, with 10 micron screens, were installed adjacent to the outlet of the chilling tanks, downstream from the two system pumps.
Within hours of installation, the water quality was even better than that of their tap water.
Divida is yet another satisfied customer running a problem free operating plant.
