Photoelastic
Stress Analysis
This bulletin
describes full-field measurement systems for Stress Analysis
testing. Selecting a photostress instrument system to fit particular
testing requirements is detailed in a guide for comparison,
to maximize use of the technique in the most cost efficient
manner.
Instruments described include polariscope systems, telemicroscopes,
stroboscopes, and system components such as indicator/printers,
interface modules and application kits.

Residual
Stress Analysis
A predominant factor
in structural failure may be the residual stresses that exist in an
object, usually introduced during manufacturing and caused by processes
such as casting or machining. Residual stress can neither be detected
nor evaluated by conventional surface measurement techniques. This
bulletin describes the Strain Gages and Instrumentation suitable for
residual stress measurement using the hole drilling strain gage method.

Experimental
Stress Analysis - Technical Training Programs
Experimental Stress
Analysis is the proven technology for product design evaluation. In
fact, it is often called the quality control of design. The Measurements
Group offers a series of comprehensive, coordinated instructional programs
in the technologies of Experimental Stress Analysis and precision strain
measurement. This training, provided through workshops and short courses,
is of maximum benefit to those new to these techniques.

Technical
Data For Stress Analysis
The Measurements
Group has designed a unique, information packed 28 x 40 inch wall chart
containing formulas, constants, guidelines, procedures, and materials
properties. The chart represents a compact “handbook” of useful data
for engineers and technicians involved in Stress Analysis. Contents
include strain gage data, a guide to selection of photoelastic methods,
nominal and thermal properties of over 60 materials.

Strain
Gage Accessories
Making accurate and
reliable Strain Gage Measurements does not depend on the quality of
the strain gage alone. The gage can perform to its fullest potential
only if the installation is of comparable quality. This catalog describes
a wide range of accessories used for installation of electrical resistance
strain gages. Accessories developed and selected specifically for their
effectiveness and ease of use.

Introduction
To Strain Gages
This introductory
catalog contains abridged Strain Gage listings which are representative
of the types and sizes most widely used in Stress Analysis applications.
For those involved in extensive Stress / Strain Measurement programs,
it is advantageous to request a copy of Micro-Measurements Catalog 500.
The Strain Gage listings in Catalog 500 include all standard types and
pattern configurations manufactured by Micro-Measurements. Considering
the variations in pattern design, grid alloys, self-temperature-compensation
(S-T-C) numbers, backing matrials, and optional features, there are
over 250,000 possible types from which to select.
