Die Handlers are offered as an option on Liberty positioners. Fixed slip dies are precision devices that must be handled with care to avoid damage to die cavity, land, and lips.
A die handler is a simple, labor-saving mechanism that allows operators to quickly and easily split the die, clean it, change shims if needed, then bolt the top half of the die back in place. All this can be done without removing the die from the positioner.
Removal of the die from the positioner when necessary is also facilitated by the die handler.
Die Handler Movement
The die handler moves along linear ways mounted on the side plates of the die positioner. These allow the handler to be positioned directly above the die.
Knobs are then used to screw two threaded rods into the top half of the die. Using a handwheel, the operator then lifts the complete die (if die bolts are left in place) or the top half of the die (if die bolts are removed).
On most die handlers, a single handwheel at one rod location is chain-linked to the other rod location to ensure synchronized lifting. For some smaller dies, two independent handwheels are sufficient.
