Filter Innovations
has recently completed designing and testing it's
own version of the Dissolved Air Filtration system
(DAF). After successful testing with our prototypes
we've finalized the design and have begun production
on our first units. Check back soon for more detailed
information on one of our newest and most innovative
deigns yet.
How does it work?
A stream of air continuously
generates at the base of a flotation cell where
it travels up the counter-current of the flow
going down. The counter current is produced from
the solids of water being fed in to the system.
This water,
which contains solid waste, enters the zone of
distribution close to the interface. The polymer
mixture enters an area that agitates the mixture
that sticks to the solids that are meant to be
separated. While entering the zone of distribution,
the particles that are coagulated in the water,
stick to the bubbles of air. These then travel
upward and are evacuated as soon as it reaches
the surface of the water. On the other hand, heavier
cleaner water without the coagulated particles
is evacuated by exiting the system away from the
dirty scum. The scum, which accumulates with the
top the column, overflows in an intermittent way
or is continuously skimmed away by a system of
skimmers.
