 The Endevco Model 28981A is a self-contained portable
Modal Hammer Set designed for structural testing. The
versatile, ergonomically-designed impact hammer is actually
three hammers in one. Full scale output ranges of 5000,
500 and 50 lbf (22,000, 2,200, 220 N) can be selected
by simply changing the switch position on the handle.
The battery-powered, rechargeable signal conditioner allows
excellent portability in the field. Included in the Modal
Hammer Set are:
• Multi-range Impact Hammer with ISOTRON® force sensor
featuring low impedance output and acceleration compensation
• Battery-operated, rechargeable conditioner/amplifier
with switchable gain of 1 or 10 and status LED
• Durable coaxial connecting cable
• AC Adapter/Charger for signal conditioner/amplifier
• 3 interchangeable tips: Rubber, Plastic, Aluminum

The impact hammer is acceleration-compensated to avoid
glitches in the force spectrum due to hammer structure
resonances. Frequency content of the input force pulse
can be tailored by varying the hammer structure, such
as changing the impact tips. The force sensor on the hammer
has been designed to match the dynamic characteristics
of the three supplied impact tips.
