Do It Yourself Screen Remeshing

Tools:
5mm Allen wrench with ratchet
desired screen cloth
screen frame with 2 locking rings

Fig. 1

Preparation:
1. Clean grooves of the screen

2. Place the screen frame on a stable base (fig. 1)

3. Cut screen cloth into square with its sides at least 100mm (4 inches) more than desired diameter of the ring
(fig. 2)

4. Lay screen mesh over screen frame and identify the pattern of the wires
(warp & weft)

5. Position the screw joint of the screen locking ring at a 45 degree angle in relation to the pattern of the wires and push the ring down to the lower groove
(fig.3)

6. Tighten the screws in an alternating fashion
(fig. 4)

7. Pull mesh down to eliminate creases and then finish tightening the screws.

8. Position the second locking rings screw joint 90 degrees opposite the bottom screw joint and push the second ring into the upper groove.

9. Tighten the screws in an alternating fashion
(fig. 5)

10. Continue tightening until the desired tension is achieved
(fig.6)

11. Cut or grind the excess cloth being careful not to leave any sharp edges.
(fig. 7)

To allow the screener to function properly the mesh screen must be very taught in the screen support ring.

An insufficient screen tension causes the product to behave erratically with a consequent reduction in the efficiency of the machine. This reduction cannot be compensated for even if the adjustement to the motor-vibrator is modified.
