Expo Technologies - Hazrdous Area Solutions
Expo Technologies is the worlds leading provider of safe operating solutions for electrical equipment on Hazardous Areas.
We provide premier technical services for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance and support of specialist products used in the protection of electrical equipment operating in hazardous (or classified) and non-hazardous areas.
All our products are certified and approved to international standards throughout Europe, North America and Australia.

Pressurization is generally used for electrical equipment that cannot be protected by other means, either because it is too large to be made explosion-proof, or too high powered to use intrinsic safety. |

"Good house keeping" is the key to all dust hazard applications where the inside of the enclosure should be clear of dust before closing the door of the enclosure and applying the pressure. A pressure must be maintained within the enclosure to prevent any ingress of dust. Normally compressed air is used to maintain this over pressure. << Learn More >> |

The flameproof (Ex d) technique, known as explosion proof in the USA and Canada, prevents an internal explosion propagating to the external atmosphere. Hazardous area equipment is surrounded by a strong enclosure, which can withstand internal explosions without igniting the external atmosphere. This technique, which has been in use for over 80 years, allows high power levels but has the disadvantage that the enclosures are heavy and expensive and must not be opened without first disconnecting the electrical circuit or obtaining a 'gas-free certificate' for the relevant plant area. << Learn More >> |

Our intrinsically safe Friction Free Valve (FFV) gives wear free and frictionless operation and provides freedom from sticking, one of the most common plant valve problems. The high reliability is achieved by the use of suspended poppets which have a large area but very small movement. This arrangement gives virtually friction free operation. This makes the FFV equally suited to applications which are continually cycling, or to applications where a valve is held in one position for long periods and a high level of confidence is required for emergency shutdown systems. << Learn More >> |

Increased Safety Enclosures Increased Safety (Ex e) is a type of protection that applies only to electrical apparatus that does not produce arcs or sparks in normal service. Additional measures are applied so as to give increased security against the possibility of excessive temperatures and of the occurrence of arcs and sparks. Issues such as electrical clearances and security of connections are addressed. This is different from intrinsically safe which prevents any spark or thermal effect from igniting by limiting voltage and currents with electrical circuit components known as barriers. << Learn More >> |

Expo's intrinsically safe Datex keyboards and terminals have been designed to meet a wide range of applications for full function keyboards in hazardous locations and harsh environments. The operator can send and receive input data from the host computer via a text display when using the Datex Terminal. The Datex can be supplied as a stand-alone or as a component for incorporation by die OEM into their equipment. << Learn More >> |
